AI Powerhouse Anthropic Acquires Coefficient Bio to Scale Life Sciences

AI giant Anthropic is aggressively expanding its footprint in the life sciences, reportedly acquiring stealth startup Coefficient Bio in a deal valued at $400 million. The stock-based transaction, first reported by The Information and TechCrunch, comes as Anthropic pivots toward high-value specialized sectors like drug discovery.

This acquisition follows the recent launch of "Claude for Life Sciences," signaling Anthropic’s intent to lead in what Eric Kauderer-Abrams, Anthropic’s head of biology, calls one of the company's "largest strategic bets."
