Deloitte Survey Highlights Importance of Employee Well-Being in Corporate Strategy

A recent Deloitte survey conducted in collaboration with Workplace Intelligence sheds light on the evolving corporate focus on "human sustainability" and its impact on employee well-being and business success. Defined as creating value for employees through health and well-being, skill development, job quality, equity, and purpose, human sustainability emphasizes a shift from solely benefiting the organization to also benefiting its people and society.

The survey reveals a significant alignment among executives and workers on the importance of companies creating value beyond profits, with 93% of executives and 88% of workers endorsing this view. However, there exists a notable disconnect in perceptions of progress towards human sustainability, with only 56% of workers believing their companies are advancing in this area compared to 82% of executives. This disparity underscores the challenge companies face in effectively implementing policies that support employee well-being and engagement, despite positive intentions and policies on paper. As businesses navigate this landscape, the survey underscores the imperative for leaders to foster open communication, tailor well-being programs to address specific needs, and align corporate strategies with metrics that prioritize human outcomes.
