Ex-Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal Unveils New AI Startup Parallel Web Systems

Former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has stepped into the AI sector with the launch of Parallel Web Systems, a Palo Alto–headquartered firm dedicated to advanced research solutions. The firm introduced its flagship product, the Deep Research API, which enables AI agents to conduct real-time web research across multiple domains. Reports indicate that the company has secured about $30 million in funding from Khosla Ventures, Index Ventures, and First Round Capital.

Agrawal, who left Twitter following its 2022 takeover by Elon Musk, described the new platform as one built for precision. “The system is designed to reach levels of accuracy beyond human capability in certain specialised tasks,” he said. According to the company, the Deep Research API already manages millions of daily research tasks, from document discovery to debugging code and workflow automation.

The technology integrates eight research engines tailored to activities such as long-form synthesis, cross-disciplinary analysis, and knowledge retrieval, making it suitable for developers and organisations aiming to embed research functions into their applications. Parallel Web Systems claims the API has outperformed leading models, including OpenAI’s GPT-5, in selected benchmarks, though independent reviews remain limited. Analysts note that the platform arrives at a time when businesses seek AI systems that can interpret live data rather than rely solely on static training sets. Potential uses range from legal analysis to market intelligence and scientific research.
